DOs

• Have a plan - and stick to it.  Don't get distracted.  Set targets, deadlines and  goals to keep yourself on track.  From time to time, review what you've done and where you are going.
  
• Be honest – with yourself and with your customers.  Don’t sell something just to make a profit; believe that what you are selling will help your customers achieve their goal.
• Be knowledgeable.  You don’t have to be an expert on your products, but you must be knowledgeable or you will be found out and not trusted.
• Be persistent.  No business was ever an overnight success without a lot of preparation and effort beforehand (!).
• Be innovative.  Take advice from others and build on it, don’t follow it slavishly

DON’Ts

• Don’t steal.  Copyright theft is just that – theft.  There is lots of legal free stuff on the web, and most other things you need are cheap.
• Don’t forget non-web marketing - it could complement your online business.
