You can of course buy and resell almost anything. In internet marketing this works best for buying and reselling download products. These may be eBooks, software, or marketing programs. Some can be a mixture of all three. The cheaper end of the market is eBooks.
The great thing about download products of course is that you buy once, but you can resell over and over again. This can lead to the problem of devaluation.
Suppose a marketer buys a product for $10. He decides, what the heck, I can make a profit selling this at only $5, and I'll undercut the oposition. Someone buys from him and she decides that she'll use the same tactic and sell at $2.50. Before long the things are being given away as freebies and you can't sell them at any price.
My advice is don't try to undercut. You'll rarely be directly competing with other sellers, or have customers who will shop around. The real art of reselling is to pick good quality products, choose a price that accurately reflects their worth and put all your effort into convincing the customer of its worth.
You need a site to resell from. It can be a straightforward store containing a selection, maybe a very large selection, of items for sale. Or you can have a site dedicated to one product, or a site where resell products, most usually eBooks, are sold as one of the income streams.
One bonus of buying download products is that you can use them yourself before, or even after, you've sold them. For example, download an eBook on internet marketing, increase you knowledge and use that knowledge to sell it alongside your other products!
A very quick and easy way into reselling for the beginner is to buy an instant store. For a small monthly fee you get your own store ready stocked and linked to PayPal. I've recently tried one of these out and it took me under half an hour to set up, and I didn't need to use any skill. Have a look at my experiment.
There are many sources of resell products. Just type 'resell' into Google and browse the results. Pick something that suits you.
There are two basic forms of resell rights. 'Resell Rights' essentially gives you to sell the product to end users an nothing more. 'Master Resell Rights' allow you to sell the products to other resellers, who can in turn sell them on. You can of course also sell to end users.
Master Resell Rights often come with the right to rebrand the product and sell it as your own work.
In practice, resell rights come with a variety of rights and restrictions, perhaps on resale price, so make sure you read these before you buy - they're usually in the form of a certificate. For example, if you want to give away a product as a free gift, as an incentive or a bonus to your customers, make sure you are allowed to do this.
Always stick to the rights you have. For cheap items you might well get away with it because thereis little profit in the seller tracking his product. But for the more valuable marketing schemes you soon find some irrate internet guru on your tail and your reputation, and your business will be shot. |
