You are going to be very busy setting up your own business, tracking down products and driving traffic to your site or advertisement. Unless you organise from the start, you'll get in a muddle and loose valuable time and profits. Don't skimp on these vital steps. |
Budget your money and your time
You need to set yourself two budgets, one for money and the other for time.
Time. Time is the most important asset you have. Decide how much time you can afford to invest and divide that time between different activities. The important activities are those which give the greatest growth to your business or make you the most money. Invest most of your time in them.
Money. You don't need a lot of money to run an online business. In fact you can start and run a business for nothing at all. But if you can afford to put in some money you will progress faster and save time. It's often a balance between investing your time or some money. As you start making money, reinvest some of it in your business.
ENERGY!
I won't lie to you, you'll never make money online (or anywhere else) sitting back doing nothing. It requires time and effort. But, you can work from home - or anywhere where you can log on - and at the times that suit you. Don't forget that you canprepare things offline too. You can also automate a lot of your systems so they're working for you whilst you're ofline, or even asleep! Get stuck in - work hard - enjoy it!

Things to cover

- Security. Are you running an up to date firewall and anti-virus program? If not, your business is at risk. Most programs update automatically - check yours. If you need a new program, Kaspersky has a good reputation and is reasonably priced.Kaspersky Anti-Virus Products
- Access codes. Keep a record! you will generate dozens, even hundreds of these. You won't always be able to use your favourite, you'll never remember them all. You won't and shouldn't always use your 'remember password' cookie.. You can create a list on your PC, but don't put it anywhere obvious, such as in a file marked 'Passwords'. For anything to do with money, don't store these on your PC at all. Use special passwords for money accounts and remember them or store them away from your PC. - Activity Log. It's good practice o keep a brief record of significant actions each day. It's an action reminder, plus you can check which actions make difference to your traffic and your profits.
- Filing system. Organise your computer files so that you can file and retrieve information quickly. A few minutes now will save you hours every week in the future.
- Back up. Back up all your files, both online and off. If you have a major failure, you could lose all your records, websites and files. And your business.
